More Just Heavenly
By Larry Young
In Jesus’ Great Commission, he commanded His followers to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16: 15). The gospel (Greek: euangelion) literally means “good news”, that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for all sinners, was resurrected, and reigns as King, offering salvation and reconciliation with God to all who believe. This message is “good news” because it means salvation is a gift of grace, not earned by human merit. It is the restoration of humanity’s relationship with God. Our response to this message calls for us to repent, believe the good news, and trust in Jesus as Lord. Then, every trusting repentant believer will be taken to Christ’s kingdom in Heaven upon His return.
What will it be like for you personally in Heaven?
Your next door neighbors will always love you, and you will always love them.
You won’t be burdened with paying taxes to a ruthless or greedy government.
You won’t need to sleep 8 hours a “night” or have a big bed or sleep aids.
You won’t ever get sick, have migraine headaches, or suffer any kind of pain
You will never again have to face death, dying, suffering, or writing a will
You will never get old, get arthritis, need glasses, lose teeth, lose hair, or get gray hair.
You will never again feel fear or suffer deep sadness or lose friends or loved ones.
You will never have memory loss, senior moments, dementia, or forgetfulness.
You will always feel great, be full of energy and vitality; you may grow to 12ft. tall
You will be full of joy, gratitude, and love to Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit (Gal: 4:6)
You will never be lied to or deceived by anyone. No stealing, no hatred (except of sin), or nastiness.
“I urge you to prepare for the coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven. Day by day cast the love of the world out of your hearts. Understand by experience what it means to have fellowship with Christ. Prepare for the judgment, that when Christ shall come to be admired in all them that believe, you may be among those who will meet Him in peace. In that day the redeemed will shine forth in the glory of the Father and the Son. The angels, touching their golden harps, will welcome the King and His trophies of victory – those who have been washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb. A song of triumph shall peal forth, filling all heaven. Christ has conquered. He enters the heavenly courts, accompanied by His redeemed ones, the witnesses that His mission of suffering and sacrifice has not been in vain.” (Adventist Home: pg. 549)
“For the LORD himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. And so we will be with the LORD forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thess 4: 16-18)

“I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” (Rev 20: 4 – 6)

“Then we began to look at the glorious things outside of the city. There I saw most glorious houses, that had the appearance of silver, supported by four pillars set with pearls most glorious to behold. These were to be inhabited by the saints. In each was a golden shelf. I saw many of the saints go into the houses, take off their glittering crowns and lay them on the shelf, then go out into the field by the houses to do something with the earth; not as we have to do with the earth here – no, no. A glorious light shone all about their heads, and they were continually shouting and offering praises to God.” (Adventist Home: pg. 548)

“Then we entered a field full of all kinds of beasts – the lion, the lamb, the leopard, and the wolf, all together in perfect union. We passed through the midst of them, and they followed on peaceably after.” (Adventist Home pg.548)

“Then we entered a wood, not like the dark woods we have here – no, no: but light, and all over glorious; the branches of the trees moved to and fro, and we all cried out, “we will dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.” (Adventist Home: pgs. 547-548) (Note: Gray haired man on left was to be brown)

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the LORD God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.” (Rev 22: 1-5, 14)
